Not really. Cygwin is probably your best bet as we do use some unix-like
functionality. Of course most of the code is simple C, so it shouldn't
be impossible to use Visual C++. I don't know what would happen to the
assembly loops in this case. If you would use e.g. the Portland compiler
of maybe the Compaq compiler it could be a lot easier since they are
derived from the UNIX tools. Portland have this 14 day trial period where
you can use the compiler before it expires. Maybe you can try that...
