[gmx-developers] no X/Motif & X-library dependencies

Hi guys,


I've compiled Gromacs here on our local Linux cluster without Motif
support, as you can see:

# mdrun -X -h

Fatal error: GROMACS compiled without MOTIF support - can't use X
interface

but then if I check the library dependencies of mdrun:

# ldd /usr/local/gromacs/i686-pc-linux-gnu/bin/mdrun | grep X
        libSM.so.6 => /usr/X11R6/lib/libSM.so.6 (0x40279000)
        libICE.so.6 => /usr/X11R6/lib/libICE.so.6 (0x40282000)
        libX11.so.6 => /usr/X11R6/lib/libX11.so.6 (0x40299000)

it clearly does want to link to some X libraries. This is not
convenient, e.g. for nodes where no X has been installed...
For the record, this is for Gromacs 3.0.5 and 3.1.3 on a
Redhat 7.0/2.5.10 kernel system.
