Erik, I have mailed you this before, but have not heared anything about 
it since.
I still have the bootstrap problem on my amd64 with suse9.1 (I now run 
bootstrap
on my same gromacs tree on a athlon with suse9.1). I have no idea if the 
problem
is related. My version automake 1.8.3, autoconf 2.59
The bootstrap output again:
