Hi David,

If anything, these are probably things that are due to the git  
transition, rather than somebody randomly adding "fun stuff". Please  
try to track down the problem as accurately as possible, or at least  
describe your setup in detail :-)

I'm not getting any -w flag when using a fresh checkout, at least. For  
Intel compilers the flag seems to have been there forever...
