Hi,
This looks even more strange, but it might very well be that it's a
bug triggered only by the specific gcc-s and/or glibc-s lister below.
However, one important thing you should try is to test if you see the
crashes with 4.0.7 which is a patch release with a quite hefty list of
changes (http://goo.gl/w1Ts) which might include a fix for your issue.
Transitioning your local development tree to 4.0.7 should be fairly
simple and it's very much recommended.
