[gmx-developers] GCC for 2017

Hi,
I think we should require CUDA 6.5 so that we don’t have to work-around missing C++11 in CUDA anymore. If we anyhow require that we wouldn’t exclude any CUDA version because CUDA 6.5 supports GCC 4.8.

Hi,
4.8 seems reasonable to me, but I think we want to consider which CUDA versions(s) that would exclude - how old they are and whether that saves us any work.

Hi,
Any idea what the required GCC version for 2017 is going to be? Based on Erik's suggestion a while back it would be 4.8 (Ubuntu 14.04). This would have full C++11 but has more bugs than what's desirable for improved productivity.
Asking because I'm hitting one of those bugs in threading and wondering whether I need a work-around.
