[gmx-users] compiling problem

Hi there 

I'm trying to compile from a source version 3.1.4
In a case 
#./configure
#make && make install everything is ok
After this 
#make distclean
and
#./configure --enable-mpi
I get "checking whether your compiler can hadle assmbly loops (*.s) .. no
configure: error: Upgrade your compiler"

I used lam-6.5.4 and configured it  
#./configure --with-rsh='ssh -x'
#make && make install

Why GROMACS cann't detect the mpicc compiler feature
