Gromacs benefit greatly from low latency interconnects.


SCI interconnect together with ScaMPI has the lowest latency
of all. If you have a look at the performance pages at gromacs
www pages you will see a test performed by the Gromacs team, where
the very good performance of  SCI is presented.

Gigabit ethernet are great for interconnecting servers, but not
for interconnecting clusters.
