We're running 3.1.4 under OS X (10.1.5) on a number of machines 
(G4/800's, 733, some w/ dual monitors) and it's working out fine...

I just followed the instructions off the WWW site (I have a summary 
if you're interested - one pager - mainly so I could remember what I 
had to type in i.e. bash stuff, fftw, etc..)
