[gmx-users] Athlon SSE vs. 3Dnow

Hi,

I noticed that on our old, single Athlon 1GHz nodes mdrun uses the
3Dnow instructions, while on the new, dual Athlon 1.3GHz it uses the
SSE instructions. My feeling is that the (Athlon specific) 3Dnow would
be faster. So, why is SSE used? Is SSE (if available - the 1GHz CPU's
don't have it) or 3Dnow faster on Athlons?
