Usually (Linux, IRIX), there will be a 'ghost' file somewhere where the 
mdrun process still writes to. It could be named '.nfs*' or '.i*' or 
something. While mdrun is still running, this file will be there and you 
could copy it, but it will be removed as soon as mdrun finished... I'm not 
sure what effect renaming it could have.
