Did you
  (a) install gromacs after build?

  (b) load environment variables after install
      $> source /usr/local/gromacs/bin/GMXRC
      see: "Getting access to GROMACS after installation"
      in 
http://www.gromacs.org/Documentation/Installation_Instructions_4.5#Final_Installation
