And I want to add: If they are compiled without optimisations, ie nothing
like -O2; if the compiler is allowed to optimise, a programme in the
debugger and the source code can differ dramatically (for example, some
pieces of the code simply disappear or are shifted around wildly or
variables cease to exist).
