In principle yes...
... but from what I remember it's not worth to put much effort in  
there.  The fortran loops give roughly 80% performance of assembly  
loops on Itanium, which is quite OK, and as an architecture Itanium is  
more or less dead. There will be a new prototype system in Munich this  
summer and from what I remember the HLRB2 replacement should be there  
in 2011. If you aren't simulating a real big system - performance of  
the HLRB2 is not a big advantage anymore compared to the usual  
Infiniband equipment.
