[gmx-developers] compiling from tarball on ubuntu

Hi!


Further checking: I've compiled & run on suze 11.3 (latest) and 11.2 and 
ubuntu lucid (10.4) and maverick (10.10).

In short, mdrun fails with coredump on tutor/water on lucid 
(glibc-2.11.1), with gcc version (4.4.3), but runs without problems with 
gcc 4.1.3, 4.3.4.
It also fails, as reported earlier, on karmic (9.10) with gcc 4.4.1 and 
glibc2.10.1.

While mdrun runs with no problems on maverick (libc-2.12.1) independent 
of gcc version (4.1.3, 4.3.5, 4.4.5) as well as suze 11.3 with gcc 4.5.0 
(glibc2.11.2) or suze 11.2 with gcc 4.4.1 (glibc2.10.1)

Does this make sense to anybody? (not to me at this moment... ;-(
Any other things that we should check and/or report?
