gzip your pdo files first (so they take up much less disk space). However, 
I'm not sure if the current 3.2.1 g_wham actually works... check for 
yourself, perhaps with the source at hand.

g_wham tacitly assumes that the input is gzipped (which is sensible but 
not really documented).
