Hi,
CUDA programs (as GROMACS is) can't use SLI, so it does neither good nor
harm except to your bank balance. 8 cores is unlikely to give a balanced
setup with three 980Ti, and wildly unlikely to be balanced with 4 1070. The
general principles described here are very applicable.
