[gmx-users] mindist in gromacs

Dear all,

I am trying to calculate the minimum distance between head groups on the water surface.
I used the gmx mindist tool in Gromacs however I am not sure what is the meaning of this distance?
Is it the distance according to x or y or z axis? 
Or is there a way to estimate the minimum distance in z,x and y axis separately?
